What is a MPD (Meter Protection Device)?
MPD installation is a shortened name for the installation of a Meter Protection Device to your residential or commercial properties switchboard. An MPD is essentially a service fuse which is installed in your switchboard or fuse box and acts as an isolation point to protect the meter in the event that there is an electrical issue or short circuit. Is an ASP Level 2 electrician required for a MPD Installation ?
Yes, only level 2 electricians can perform an MPD Installation. ASP level 2 electricians are authorised service providers which have qualifications to install and repair meter protection devices, consumer mains, point of attachments and mains cables which lead into the street.
